What’s this site about?
I am a huge advocate of self-help and motivational materials. I believe if used correctly it can have an extremely positive impact on one’s condition. However, I do offer some words of caution. The caution lies in the very term itself, self-help. You, yourself, must adapt and apply the principles and philosophies to bear any fruit. In this, it can be easy for one to believe that they have achieved their success on their own. I assure you that this is not the case. There is nothing we can do here apart from God. I think that 1 Corinthians 4:1-20 cautions about this.
Sharing that our true purpose cannot be realized apart from God is the one major ingredient that I believe most self-help professors or tutors fail to impart to their apprentices. I think this could be an innocent omission because they are unaware of this truth and may have fallen into this snare themselves or have decided not to share it for inexplicable reasons. Knowledge that the gospel of Jesus being foolishness to the natural man, 1 Co 2:14, can present quite a challenge for those seeking to gain a profit.
Many self-help principles are derived directly from the Bible which I think accounts for much of their success even when applied by the natural man. The problem is that we are spiritual beings and no matter what level of success we believe we have obtained, real or perceived, can truly fulfill us. We will always feel there is something missing as long as we are estranged from our Creator.
Sin has alienated us from God. However, there is Good News. He has provided a way for us to be reconciled with Him. I have a sister site, The Study Site, with resources for guidance on how to secure this reunion through His son Jesus.
I am posting many self-help and motivational resources here. I don’t agree with everything these coaches say. You need to discern for yourself what is of value, just as the scripture tells us we must do while researching them in Acts 17:11 and Philippians 2:12. Many of the teachings of these mentors have had a significant impact on my life. I find in many instances they say the same thing as the scripture, but in another way. Sometimes we just need to hear it another way.

As much as I enjoy the materials you will find here, if you have not been saved by the blood of Jesus, I recommend you start there. There is no wisdom here that will give you the freedom that you will find in Christ.
